The Cancer Prevention Sciences and Technology Research Center is an interdisciplinary scientific institution that adopts an innovative and systematic approach to promoting public health through reducing cancer risk factors before clinical diagnosis and treatment. Focusing on the concept of prevention as the most effective and sustainable strategy for cancer control, the Center aims to move beyond a treatment-centered perspective by leveraging capacities across diverse fields, including agricultural sciences, humanities, basic sciences, and engineering.
In the agricultural sciences, the Center studies and develops strategies to reduce food contaminants, carcinogenic pesticides, improve the production of healthy crops, and promote sustainable agriculture. In the humanities, emphasis is placed on analyzing social behaviors, lifestyle patterns, cultural factors, and public education to change perceptions and awareness regarding cancer risk factors. Basic sciences play a critical role in elucidating the biological, molecular, and genetic mechanisms underlying cancer initiation. In the engineering and technical fields, the Center focuses on developing innovative technologies for population screening, designing biocompatible and non-carcinogenic materials, and environmental monitoring systems.
The Center’s research approach is interdisciplinary, integrating biological, social, and engineering sciences to produce practical knowledge and implementable strategies for cancer prevention. Key strategies include developing a national roadmap for prevention, designing early warning systems, monitoring environmental and behavioral changes, and maintaining close collaboration with governmental bodies, including the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, and Education. This modern framework provides a foundation for establishing a novel model of active and scientific cancer prevention at national and regional levels.
