Cell phone EMF effect on mitBK channel activity, a possible biophysical cause of cancer

چکیده :

Exposure to cell phone electromagnetic fields (CP-EMFs), is connected with cell death, infertility and other pathologic effects and ultimate diseases, including cancer. The ion translocation through voltage gated potassium channels of cell and mitochondrial membranes is affected by CP-EMF that leads to adverse effect on the bioelectric profile of cell and its physiological status, subsequently. As a result, the abnormal and damaging electrical pulses and bursts induced by CP-EMFs, activates undesired physiological events including; overproduction of reactive oxygen species and free radicals that leads to DNA damage and over or mis-expression of cancer associated genes. Here, the mitBk channels extracted from rat brains mitochondria, reconstituted into egg yolk lipid bilayers, and different aspects of single channel activity including; conductance, gating properties, and voltage sensitivity were recorded in the absence and presence of CP-EMFs using EPC-9 Heka Instrument. The recorded data were analyzed by Clampfit software of Axon package. The results showed CP-EMFs increased channel open probability and number of translocating ions. The extreme driving forces exerted by CP-EMFs on ions in the vicinity of the channel caused a huge number of ions translocation at high frequency. The huge non-physiological ion translocation imposed by CP-MF disrupts bioelectric of cells may cause cancer.
