Effect of regular aerobic training on gene expression of CDK4/6 in the liver of Wistar male rats

Introduction: CDK4/6 are actually cyclin D-dependent kinases and are positive promoters of cell proliferation that are directly related to cancer risk. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of a period of regular aerobic training on gene expression of CDK4/6 protein in the liver of male Wistar rats. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, 16 male Wistar rats were selected as the statistical sample of this study. Samples were randomly divided into two groups: control group (8 subjects), regular training group (8 subjects). They began their activities according to the 12-week aerobic program. The expression levels of CDK4/6 gene in liver tissue were measured using real-time PCR. After data collection, the information was analyzed by SPSS-24 software. To test the normal distribution of data in groups, the Shapiro-Wilk test was used, and to compare the changes between groups, the independent t-test was used at a significance level of P<0.05. Results: The results showed that in the expression of the CDK4/6 there was a significant decrease in the aerobic training group (P=0.000) compared to the control group. Conclusion: When doing sports, attention should be paid to several factors, including the type of exercise, its intensity, and the individual's health condition. In general, regular and balanced exercise activities are known as one of the important factors in cancer prevention. Therefore, activities with such characteristics may can reduce CDK4/6. Therefore, it seems that they may can be effective in preventing liver cancer.
